I went and got a partial highlight yesterday on my medium brown hair, which I dyed two months ago in a salon. Well, I hate the highlights, my hair looks way too blonde! I don't want my hair to get damaged, but I really don't like these highlights. Should I ask the stylist to just tone it down or put brown over my highlights? I just want my hair back as it was before the highlights.

The stylist's job is to make you happy so she/he need to do whatever it takes to do so. I would hope if you ask, they will...talk to the owner if the stylist is not the owner and does not react well. The stylist needs to make sure your hair is healthy of another process...as you really want to be careful not to do damage and make it all worse.
Post back what the stylist says. Wishing you all the best and an easy fix.
I would definitely go back to the salon and have the stylist redo this to your satisfaction. If you mess with it yourself they will have a reason to believe you botched up the job.
I put highlights in my light brown hair every couple of months, usually right after I get it cut. I know that I need to leave the mixture on for exactly 13 minutes before washing it out, but once in a while, I'll leave it on for a few minutes too long.
Then, it's too yellow for me. I buy Fanciful mousse in a slightly darker blonde shade and use that instead of my usual hair gel, and it covers the yellow and even the gray. It does wash out, but I just use it again every time I shampoo.
I'm thinking about getting some red mousse and adding red streaks, just for fun.
