Go to this site to look at and download the manual for your Singer Fashion Mate 258 sewing machine.

Near top of screen, it says support in big letters. There is a box under that.....put in your model number 258, then click red bar VIEW MANUALS. It will open your manual on next page, where you can scroll down through the 52 page booklet. You can also save or print the whole booklet if you want to... for free. THREADING your machine starts on page 11. Have fun and Good Luck !!!!
This is a popular machine and there are several YouTube videos on the different functions of this model.
However, you should have a manual so you can have something to refer back to should you run into problems.
I would recommend that you join one or two sewing forums, as these members seem to love to help sewers solve problems.
