This is a fun way to warm up tortillas and to keep them warm on the dinner table while assembling burritos or tacos.
Total Time: 1 hour
Yield: 1
Supplies:
- insulated batting
- coordinating fabric
- sewing machine
- thread
- pins
- scissors
Steps:
- Using a pizza pan for a circle pattern, lay on top of desired fabric and using a pencil, draw around the edge of the pan. Cut out two pieces of batting and four pieces of fabric. I did two of each on the solid fabric and two of each on the coordinating fabric. A pizza pan is a good size to use since the tortilla warmer, when completed, will be large enough to hold the large size tortillas as well as smaller size.
- Pin the batting to the wrong side of the fabric circles in this order: solid fabric placed right sides together with coordinating fabric and batting placed on the wrong side of coordinating fabric. Pin the three together leaving a 3 to 4 inch opening for turning. Repeat with the other batting and fabric circles.
- Sew around circles. Turn right side out through opening. Pin opening closed and slip stitch by hand. Place two completed circles right sides together (decide what side you want to be the outside of the warmer and pin this side to the correlating side of the other circle). Pin from the middle of one circle all the way around to the middle on the other side of the circle. (You will be pinning half a circle here.)
- Sew from one middle to the other side. Turn. It is now complete!
