My kids put a dresser in a hot storage unit with a towel on the top of it, then a heavy table on top of that. After 6 months, when separated, there is towel fuzz stuck to the dresser top that I can't remove. Any thoughts on repairing the dresser?

You will have to remove the finish and refinish the top. The fibers on the towel have pulled off the finish
Try using some cheap olive oil to remove the fibers. Use a clean white cotton rag to massage the fibers out of the wood. Murphy's oil soap straight may also work.
Different types of finish will probably react differently to whatever suggestion you try. If it is a varnish you may have to remove it and refinish.
Other suggestions would be to try olive oil as Pghgirl suggested but you might also think about using mayonnaise or coconut oil as these have worked for me. Leave anything you use on the table top for at least 30 minutes.
