I was mailed a check by my job but it was sent to the wrong address. I called them to see if the mail had a tracking number, but they were not sure. I called around to different post offices to see if I could track it down because I need it as soon as possible. How do I track the mail if I do not know the tracking number?

Call the post office and ask about the usual length of time for delivering. Add a week to that estimate. If your cheque has not arrived, call the company who issued the cheque and ask them to send a replacement (cancelling the original and sending the second cheque to your correct address).
How do you know it was sent to the wrong address?
If that is the case then you may be able to check the incorrect address to see if they still have your check.
Have you received checks from this comapny before?
If so, were they always on time?
Have you had problems with your mail delivery in the past?
First class letter mail does not have tracking so there may
not be a way to "track" it.
The company may not be too keen on issuing you a new check as it may mean they would have to put a "stop payment" on the previous check and that can be costly (to anyone).
Maybe you could call the sender again and try to get them to give you a definite date the check was actually mailed.
Hopefully it was just delayed by the holiday and will show up soon.
Be sure they now have your correct address.
