There is a product you can buy at Walgreens and Walmart might have it, called Tecnu. It dissolves the ivy oil. After you think you have been exposed to it get in the shower and before turning the water on rub Tecnu on the exposed areas then take an old rag and wash off and throw the rag away then shower as normal. The instructions are on the label. It was made for loggers in the northwest. I am allergic to poison ivy as well and this has helped me.
Learn to identify poison ivy and then just avoid it. We don't have it where I live, but we do have other types of stinging plants, not nothing as bad as poison ivy. You just learn to identify them, and then stay away.
I am sorry I can't tell you what do when you do have a rash. Try googling for info; there are many free websites that give you information about medical issues such as this.
Jewelweed works wonders and Mother Nature supplies large amounts of this wild weed. Just break off some tips and leaves, smuch them up and rub on the affected areas. No cost, no chemicals.
To guest99. What does this jewelweed look like? Could you provide a picture so we know what leaves to look for. Do they populate the midwest or just southern states?
