Maybe you really wash your dog too often. It should be once a week at the most.

Also conditioner can make the hair oily.

I think you need to see the vet or discuss this problem with them over the phone if you cannot visit him in the near future. You should also discuss your dog's nutrition. He may be lacking omega-3 fatty acids, a common problem in dogs fed poor-quality dry dog foods.

Please ask your vet to check before you give anything to the pup. Our boy has this and it was his thyroid. Hoping it is just dry skin and the vet will give you an easy solution.

Be sure to ask for the correct amount of any treatment. Yorkies are tiny and too much of anything can be dangerous. Post back with an update! Prayers for healing!

I have heard coconut oil is great. I would ask a vet first before I did anything, however.

Maybe your gog needs a supplement with some kind of Omega 3's (either just open up a capsule or you can do fish or salmon oil), it will help the condition of your dog's skin.

Stop washing so much - washing oily hair a lot is one of those knee-jerk reactions. When you strip the hair & scalp of oil you rob it of its moisture - so in an effort to reach a balance again it just creates more. Stop washing your dog more then once every two weeks. It will take some time for his/her body chemistry to change.

Use a really gentle shampoo that doesn't strip the hair of moisture.

Diet also plays an important part in the condition of the skin and coat.

Or maybe he/her has a skin allergies.

Or someone in your family puts oil on hands and then pets the dog.
