Treating an Older Dog With Worms?

My 16 year old German Shepherd/Pit Bull mix has worms. I called the vet and he told me to give him dewormer, but I don't want to give him harsh chemicals because of his age.

It's best to take a stool sample to the vet to determine which kind of worms. Your dog will only need a dose of one particular chemical for that worm, not all of them across the board.

Get another Vet. Any Vet who just tells you to get a "dewormer", without giving you an appropriate dewormer, or telling you what to buy is dangerous if not just stupid. Don't risk making the wrong choice. Call a Vet with a brain. A Vet should be able to take care of it for less than $50. Your dog is worth it.
