Treatment For Dog's Itchy Ears

My Rottweiler puppy has really itchy ears and because he is scratching they are all red, sore, and scabby. We had him to the vet's and they gave him a good examination and cleaned his ears out, but the problem returned 1 week later. We think it could possibly be an allergic reaction so we changed his food and it's still the same. The problem is only in his ears and nowhere else on his body. Does anyone have any ideas what this problem could be please?

I would get a second opinion. Did they do a skin scrape of his ear tissue to check for fungus, etc.? (11/05/2010)

Please have you Vet check for a yeast infection (this is very common) and he can give him mediation to clear it up. Good luck. (11/06/2010)
