I have a MTD Yard Machine 18 hp 46 inch twin blade. I have had to jump start the mower for the last two mowing seasons. This season I charged the battery, installed two new plugs, but I still have to jump start it. What do you think the problem could be? If I shut it off I will have to jump start it again. Could it be a bad solenoid? If so, how do I check if it's bad before I buy one? If anyone can help I would appreciate it. Thank you.

You can check the solenoid with a screwdriver. It seems the mower starts when you jump start it. I would guess you have a bad wire on the chassis that is stopping you from getting spark from the spark plug so the mower can turn over.
