I had a question about the over head light in my daughter's bedroom and the bathroom mirror light which is right across from her bedroom. Recently the water company was out repairing a water main leak on the road outside of our house. That night when I went to bed the power to both of these rooms was working, but when I woke up in the morning, the day they were working on the line, the lights flickered twice and went out in these rooms only. I checked the outlets which have power and my husband flicked the circuit breaker in the basement to make sure something wasn't blown, but it didn't help. Could this be related to the work that was done to the water main? Any idea what the problem could be and could we fix it on our own?

It sounds as though an electrical surge on your power took out your bulbs. If that is the case, replacing the bulbs should make it okay. You may find other devices that were on during the surge are now not functioning.
I doubt that the water main work had anything to do with this. (theoretically it is possible if the workers somehow put voltage on the water line)
If bulb replacement does not work, I would get an electrician in to meter power at the breaker and at the switches to determine where the problem is.
