No breakers are tripped, but I have no power at an outlet in one room and at the overhead lights in two other rooms.

This sounds like you have a short in your wiring.
- You are going to need to shut off the electricity to your home first.
- In the room that you don't have any power at the outlet. Remove the screws and take the face plate off.
- Undo the two screws holding the outlet in place.
- Remove this from the wall and check the wires to the outlet.
- You might need to change this outlet out. I would change it if I were you.
- Go to the hardware store and buy a new wall outlet and install it in your home.
- Start with the outlet first and power back on your fuse box. Now check the outlet using a lamp to test if you have a good connection now.
- If this doesn't work and you have checked your wiring you might need to get a electric cable tester and test the cables in your home for current.
- I would check the light switches in the two rooms and make sure they are fine and you don't need to replace the switches either.
- If you can't find the short on your own you will have to call an electrician to come and help you test the electric wiring in your home.
