I have installed a new 3 LED bulb chandelier that replaces a 10 15 watt incandescent one. Also, I replaced the dimmer switch with a new one rated for LED bulbs. All works fine; however, the two-position light switch on the range hood in the kitchen will not illuminate and the range fan will not operate either unless the chandelier dimmer switch is turned on and at full light capacity. Both are on the same circuit. This has never happened before. I checked out other devices on the circuit: outlets, lights, even an oven and all are functioning properly.

I recommend hiring an electrician.
He/She would verify the hot and neutral legs aren't switched by metering the wires to ground.
If the dimmer is wired correctly, the electrician would then verify that the range hood is tied in ahead of the dimmer and not downstream. This would be done by disconnecting the wire thought to be going to the range hood and putting a wire nut on it and seeing if the circuit still works.
Also, by using a non contact electrical sensor, they could determine which wire is the hot coming from the panel. This would be done to make sure which cable comes from the power panel and which cable goes to the light. (The dimmer would need to be unwired and the wires wire-nutted to do this)
I hope the solution is simple. Good luck.
