I put in a new solenoid and checked the starter, but it still won't start. When I touched the two screws on the solenoid with a screwdriver it started up. I was told if this was the case the solenoid is bad, but I just replaced it. Thoughts? Thanks.

Many people have this same issue after replacing a solenoid on their lawn mower. There is a reset switch that is under your chair. It is also a pressure switch so when you sit on the chair the mower will start.
Check this switch and reset the switch and try starting your mower. Normally this does the trick every time.
