Low cost Christmas gift!
Total Time: 20 minutes
Yield: 1
Supplies:
- old dark colored towel
- fabric scraps
- pins
- scissors
- sewing machine
- magnet
Steps:
- First, I pinned and cut out the pattern pieces onto fabric scraps. I used the circle pattern and pinned it to an old towel. The circle is an 8 inch diameter circle and could be made by using a plate about the same size. The head, tails, and leg shapes are pictured below. Cut two of each of these. (Sorry but I cannot find the link for the online downloadable pattern.)
- Second, pinning right sides together sew the two head, leg, and tail pieces together leaving the straight side open for turning. Clip around curves and turn right side out. Place a small magnet inside the head piece. Pin each of these pieces to the right side of the fabric circle estimating the placement of where they should go. Pin the fabric towel circle to the right side of the fabric circle. Stitch around the entire circle leaving an opening for turning.
- Third, pin the opening closed. Topstitch around the perimeter of the circle. The example of the one I made has a head only as I was making several and didn't think the tails and legs were necessary. The magnet is used to hang up the turtle.
- Fourth, the poem is attached to the turtle and is ready for gift giving.
