Bronze Post Medal for All Time! 104 Posts

Here's an easy way to give your plain glass votives a rustic chic look using only twine and hot glue.

Approximate Time: 30 minutes to an hour

Supplies:

  • votive glass
  • twine
  • hot glue gun
  • embellishment of your choice

Instructions:

Starting in the middle of the bottom of the glass, using a hot glue gun, glue twine to the glass "braided rug" style.

Glue a small section of glass at a time, then press the twine to the glass making sure you keep it tight against itself too.

When you get to the outer edge of the bottom just continue up the sides as far as you like. Some votive glasses have a lip, a natural place to stop. Or if you like, cover the entire glass.

To make a nice clean stopping point, press the end of the twine down against the previous "wind" of twine using a tiny dot of glue to keep it in place. You can also cover the end of the twine with a bow or some other embellishment.

Now you can decorate anyway you like.
