Diamond Post Medal for All Time! 1,246 Posts I can't stand throwing away my big calendars in January when the new year has arrived. Instead I like to use them to make big wreaths. Here is a cute heart-shaped wreath made from a calendar just in time for Valentine's Day!
Total Time: 30 minutes
Yield: 1 heart wreath
Supplies:
- 1 old calendar
- ruler
- pen/pencil
- scissors
- glue
- clothespin (optional)
Steps:
- Take your ruler against your calendar and place marks about one inch apart all the way across. Draw lines with the ruler at the one inch marks, these will be your cutting guides for your strips. I made about 40 strips for this wreath.
- Cut the strips out.
- Fold each strip in half.
- The middle folded section will be the center of the heart. Make two bends on each side to create a heart.
- Dab a bit of glue on both sides of the bottom of the heart and pinch to close shut using your fingers or a clothespin. Let dry.
- When all your hearts are dry, take a heart and place the bottom into the top of the other. Continue until you have a chain of about 20 hearts, then make another one of about 20 hearts.
- Take the two chains of hearts then glue them together at the bottom, hearts side by side.
- Fashion the wreath into a heart shape then glue the top together. Happy Valentine's Day!
