Diamond Post Medal for All Time! 1,246 Posts With a little cutting and folding, you can turn your plastic bottles into cute containers. Add a bit of paint and embellishments and you'll have an adorable gift box.
Total Time: 15 min - 45 min, depending on if you paint it
Supplies:
- 1 plastic bottle (I used a 1 litre bottle)
- scissors
- paint
- paintbrush
Steps:
- Remove any labeling and start cutting off the top of your bottle at the point where it begins curving.
- Clean and dry cut bottle inside and out. The bottom of the plastic bottle will have 5 bulges in equal sections. Between each bulge is where you will begin to cut from the top of the bottle going down, just until the indent line. There will sometimes be lines for this. If not, make your own. (I just imagined some!)
- Now you have five equal sized cuts. Start folding them down, into the base of the bottle, just to make sure they all line up nicely. If they're too long, you'll trim them along with the next step.
- Unfold. To make for a prettier container, snip your rectangular strips into more of pedals by cutting off the edge corners and rounding them off.
- Push them down into the bottle again to make sure they're short enough to fold down without overlap. When you're satisfied, fold down each petal one by one, overlapping them. Use your fingers to make creases at the base so the container stays shut.
- You can leave it as is, fill it with stuff, then fold down the pedals.
- But I wanted to paint mine gold. I did one coat, let it dry, then applied one more layer.
- When it's completely dry, fill it with stuff, fold down the pedals, and lock the last pedal under the one previous. Add stickers or gems if you so desire.
