Use Bread To Absorb Meatloaf Grease

When baking a meatloaf, place a piece of bread under it to absorb the hamburger fat and keep it from sticking to the pan. Throw away the bread when finished.

That is a great idea! I have always wondered how to avoid that grease and the soggy stuff around the bottom of the loaf! Thanks! (10/10/2007)

I think the birds might really enjoy that piece of grease-soaked bread. (10/11/2007)

What a great tip! I have been making meat loaf for 30 years and never have thought of using bread in the pan. Dogs would probably love eating the grease-soaked bread, too. Thank you for posting, Momof1. (04/10/2008)
