To get rid of ants in the kitchen I sprinkle cinnamon on them and around the spot that they seem to be interested in. My local dollar store is a great source for cinnamon. The ants came marching in to the dog and cat food bowls and I sprinkled a bit of cinnamon.

There is something in cinnamon that is like poison to cats, not sure about dogs. I dont remember the details but its important to know with this remedy. Please look up common dangers of things that seem harmless. It's always better safe than sorry.
how does cinnamon kill ants?
I don't think it kills them, they just don't like the smell or the powdery feel. It is a temporary deterrent, not a poison.
