I have found the best way to move purchases from my vehicle to my house. I have a clean 32 gal trashcan with wheels that I use to transport purchases from the vehicle into the house and nothing falls out in large holes like the wire shopping carts.
If I need to make more than 1 trip or if it's heavy, I can wheel it up the 5 steps and to any room for emptying. Because I don't shop that often, in the meantime I use it for storage for paper goods in my bedroom. With a board on top then a sheet to match my décor, it's a nice bedside table. Before I leave to do my shopping, I will move the board and the contents to the bed so it is already to go when I get home from shopping.

Babbie, that's a pretty neat idea! I can't use it myself, at this time, but it's a great tip that I'll keep in mind and pass along. It's two (or even 3) tips for the price of one, since the trash can is transport, storage and table top support all rolled into one.
I shop Aldi's for basics and have discovered a work-saving idea - I bring a cheap Walmart laundry basket to the store with me. When checking out I put the basket on the check out belt first. The cashier then knows to put it in the cart and fill with my purchases. I don't have to handle any individual items until I put them away at home. Many of the cashiers have commented that it's a really good idea. I see many customers laboriously transferring all their purchases into other bags and boxes - maybe they just like handling them? Not me.
What a great idea! It could also help when you move from one home to another. Many people fill their car with things they want to move themselves and this is another way of doing it.
