Use a small bag to hold small items such as lids and baby bottle lids and nipples. The items will be clean, and they won't be thrown around the dishwasher. I especially like this hint because I can use an item I already have, and don't have to purchase those plastic holders that they sell for this purpose.

I like to use these mesh bags for my socks. When I take off a pair, I put them into the bag. When ready to wash I just toss them bag and all into the washer.
I found this article looking up whether or not I could use these in the dishwasher. I am a single father that just so happens to have a bunch of these around because the ex didn't take them. My two year old did some business in the tub that he shouldn't have and I was trying to think of a way to wash all of his rubber ducks and alphabet letters and such that were in the tub at the time and thought of these.
Thanks for this idea. I have a lot of Lego Creator buildings. These have three stories and you can take off the floors to see the rooms underneath, sort of like a row of doll houses. They are not in a cabinet so they get really dusty on the top. I think putting the bricks in a mesh bag like this might work to get them clean again. I could soak them but I'm afraid I might lose some down the drain in the process.
