Use a Towel to Catch Steam from Cooking

If you have a microwave or a fan above your stove, then this tip is for you. I put a towel in the door of my microwave to catch the steam. When you are done cooking, just wipe what steam is left. Most of the steam is absorbed into the dish towel.

Fire danger! Don't hang a towel over the stove!

Probably not a good thing for the microwave. The exhaust is there to get rid of the excess heat. If you cover the exhaust, it my ruin your microwave by overheating. A better suggestion would be to find a way to vent the microwave into the an exhaust pipe that would take the heat and steam out of the house.

These interior venting systems were invented to prevent heat loss from the interior of you home. Some ideas are good for one thing and not good in other ways...i.e. the steam and heat release into the kitchen!
