What good is outdated beer (one year past expiration date) and can it be used for cooking?

I use it to rinse my hair after washing it. It makes one's hair soft and shiny. Rinse lightly with cool water to remove the beer aroma.
I do not know about cooking with it. If it is not flat, it should be OK, but I am not sure. Maybe someone els will know about cooking with expired beer.
