It stops working after 24 hours. Generic Capstar is much cheaper. You can find it on ebay or Amazon. I love generic Capstar and it is very safe and effective. The fleas literally go crazy and drop off, dead. You will see them everywhere.

Capstar kills adult fleas on cats and dogs but does not kill flea eggs so if the flea infestation is really bad you may need another longer lasting product that will kill all fleas and flea eggs.
You can give Capstar every 24 hours if you feel there are adult fleas getting back on your cat after the 24 hour period.
This is the best time to vacuum so hopefully you will get rid of some of the fleas and flea eggs.
Fleas hatch every 6-7 days so you will have a new batch hatching every day for a while. You have to vacuum often and use the Capstar for several days to keep up with the new fleas.
You can also think about using something on your floors and pet areas.
