Can dandruff shampoo remove dark red dye from my dark brown hair restoring it to its natural state?

Dandruff shampoo alone may lighten your hair to an orange shade. My daughter gave me this reply as she was once a hairdresser. Not sure about baking soda with dandruff shampoo if you'll get desired results. Doing what one of the previous posts stated, to try it on hair from brush first is a good idea.
I wouldn't use dandruff shampoo to lighten any dye on the hair. I went to cosmetology school, and for an easy way to lighten it, use a tablespoon of baking soda and water and make a paste, then put in on the parts of your hair that you want to lighten and leave it on for a few minutes then shampoo very well.
It is a harsh shampoo and may do that. Collect hairs from your brush and try it on that first.
