How long after it reaches the expiration date can I still use yogurt?

That date is the sell by date, not end of life. As long as it smells OK and isn't moldy, I would use it.
If you turn containers of certain dairy products upside down, they will last for months! This works best for cottage cheese or sour cream, but it works for yogurt as well, though the usable life seems somewhat shorter. I've used them up to 2 months after the container date (and that was just out of fear of keeping them longer).
The larger containers seem to last for longer. I've never gotten sick from eating any of those products, but the ones with added sugar or fruit don't last nearly as long as plain yogurt or even the kind that is just sugar free flavor and not fruit. I'm beginning to think that cottage will last indefinitely like that~ LOL
Go to stilltasty.com; you'll find the answer there. I seldom ever throw out anything before going there.
I dilute expired yoghurt to use in baking. Milk or water will do. This replaces buttermilk. Also there is a form of cheese using drained yoghurt which I keep meaning to try. I'd drain the yoghurt using cheesecloth or a clean ironed fine teatowel - it becomes very firm.
If you turned it upside down in the fridge, would that make mold form on the "top" and then when you took it out of the fridge to eat that would be on the bottom of the container?
