We are living in south west France and the mosquitos are a big issue during the summer months. We have tried all kinds of electronic devices and none seem to work. Are these traps suitable for indoor use? If not, what is the problem with them?

I do not know what is available in your area but I did find a list of bug zappers that can be used indoors.
I do not believe all of the outdoor zappers are recommended for indoors but I'm not sure why.
Most of the zappers in this link are available from Amazon so check your site in France - some are pretty pricey but if they work it would probably be worth it.
I think the hand held one is kinda cool!
Here is a link to US Amazon but you'll have to check your site in France to see what is available.

I live in French Polynesia and we too have issues with mosquitos year round. I normally make some homemade mosquito traps and place them around the home. They work great. They are easy to make out of old coke bottles and all you basically need to do is wrap them in a black paper and set them out in your home.
