Using Inkjet Iron-on Transfers?

I printed a bunch of iron on transfers in my Inkjet printer and they came out great. Now, on the first wash, the ink is getting faded and the transfer is rolling up on the edges. Is there some way to avoid this? I know that I can refresh the transfer with parchment paper and an iron, but my pictures look old now! Can anyone help me?

Iron on transfers need to be printed on a laser printer and not an inkjet printer. This is the same type of process that people use to transfer photos to plates or glasses. If you use the laser jet the image stays on the transfer paper.

There are also iron-on transfer papers for inkjet printers. Just read the packaging to make sure.

The problem is the paper, not the ink. You need to use special paper, called T shirt paper. Here is an excellent article to help you: www.photopaperdirect.com/.../?p=470

The transfer paper that she used in her inkjet printer was the special T-shirt paper. It just didn't work as well as expected.

I'm not sure if there is any way to fix the transfers if they start pulling up. There is a coating that goes over the ink and that is what is probably pulling up. You could try ironing it again, maybe with a blank piece of paper.

Inkjet transfers are not as good as laser printed transfers and neither of them last as long as screen printed shirts. It's best to make these shirts for limited use and wash infrequently to preserve the print.

Good luck!
