Using Outdoor Furniture Indoors?

I went looking for furniture the other day. I happened to come across a sofa set and table and chairs which was outdoor furniture. I got to thinking, hmmm that would look awesome in my living room and dining room. What do you think, have I lost it?

Not at all. Outdoor furniture is not as shabby and wiry as it used to be. Knock yourself out!

I'd say go for it! Since outdoor furniture can old outdoor conditions, being indoor - I think the furniture would last longer :)

You know at times this furniture is better to buy than one made for your home. They seem to last a lot longer and hold up better.

I think you have a great idea to buy this and put it in your home.

When I was in my 20's I did the same thing, fell in love with a beautiful wrought iron (patio set) with a thick glass top. The only problem was, it was black, and didn't fit my décor, as my sofa was white and being in a condo then, the dinning table was kind of close by the sofa, so I figured that would be an easy fix to change the black wrought iron to whatever color I wanted - and because I loved the style of the patio set, I mean it grabbed me something fierce, so I bought it, then I spray painted it white, and took off the seat coverings that it had on the 4 chairs, and used those as my pattern to make new seat covers which I found fabric for, which I did in a nice white textured fabric, and when it was done, I enjoyed the set even more.

I did have the same hesitant thought too as you, wondering if it would be "odd" having a patio set as my dining set, but I found then, that being a bit un-traditional with my furniture didn't matter, as what was most important was that I loved it, and I enjoyed looking at it every day, and it made me happy - and that's really all that mattered since I was the one living with it.

Imho, I say decorate to *your* hearts content, that way, every day when you wake up and see your surroundings, it will put a smile on your face.

Hi suzi1230, thank your reply. I just fell in love with this set. Thought about how it would look with different colored cushions. Funny thing about it was, there was a couple who where thinking about doing what I was thinking.

That's it, your response have me the courage to do it. Gonna do purple and grey print with solid pillows. Thanks so much.

Hi Punkin31.

I'm really happy for you, and excited too. It is fun dressing furniture or anything exactly the way you want it, which you'll
love too. Yours will be beautiful with your colors and be just how you want it.

This makes me want to go "cover something with some new fabric"!

Have fun!
