Using Retinol A to Lighten Dark Spots on Skin?

I've been asked to use Retinol A to lighten some dark spots on my skin. Can anyone or does anyone know if it's like a skin bleaching cream? And when or if I use the cream if my skin gets light will it stay permanent?

It will lighten the spots as long as you use it. It is irritating, however, and should be used under a doctor's supervision.

I do not know who asked you to use this but I would recommend that you see a dermatologist for recommendations as they would know more about the type of dark spots you are concerned about.

There are many, many products on the market that claim to lighten dark spots and some of them may work but many people spend a lot of money on products like this and never achieve the results promised.
Your dermatologist may recommend an OTC (over the counter) product rather than a prescription creme but they may have a better idea as to what would/might work for you.
To be sure, most of these only help for as long as you use the product.
If you cannot see a dermatologist right now, I would recommend doing some research on line and maybe try some of the home remedies that are not expensive and some may give pretty good safe results.

I use Retin A for ACNE spots. It does work and they do not come back, but again, it is an acne spot from scratching it. It is not a bleaching cream like what you may be thinking. It removes your skin layers, which is the irritation part.

Consult a dermatologist regarding your dark spots. Please do not use someone else's rx. Best wishes.

I posted something about this a long time ago but you can use raw potato on your spots. The starch reduces pigmentation and the enzymes found in it promote healthy skin.
