Next time you are preparing messy food and are likely to have sticky fingers, keep a plastic food bag ready for your hand. So if the phone rings or someone comes to the door, you can just pop your hand in the bag and answer the call.
Better Yet, mix the food in the plastic bag if possible. When finished, toss the bag, easy clean up!
Or, reverse the idea. Use food prep gloves, then roll them off.
