Value of 1857 Chamber's Information for the People?

I have a copy of Chambers's Information for the People, volume 1. It is dated Edinburgh, 1857 and it is obviously an original copy. Is this worth getting it valued by an expert? Thank you.

It is worth it. It is over 100 years old and is an antique. It is also original. It may be worth a lot. Take it to several dealers.

I have just researched for information about your book and it does not appear there are any listed for 1857 but many newer editions. It will probably be difficult to find a value for one book out of a set and of course the main thing about books is the actual condition.

If you decide to try and sell it, I would recommend Amazon as they have a good following for antique and vintage books. Starting price would a problem but ask what you want and wait and see what happens.
There are some on-line sites that make book appraisals for a small fee so you might want to look into that for a start.
