Value of 1880 Edition of Encyclopedia Britannica?

I have a 24 volume set in good condition of the 9th edition Encyclopedia Brittanica printed in 1880. I am wondering what the collection value may be?

I did some research on my husband's 1969 World Book Encyclopedia Set and learned pre 1960 years are of value and depending with whom you sell to a collector's asking price will vary.

It is an antique and has some value. Take it to a dealer for a free verbal appraisal

The real value of these books will greatly depend on the condition of the books. In order to really find out what the true value of the set is I would sugget to take one of the books to an auction house in your area. At the auction house they have many people on had who look at the items and appraise them for you.

This will give you a good idea of the value of the item and if this item is in demand and people are looking for it. Other than this I can give a price which more than likely will not reflect the true value of your item.

On Ebay- these are going for $200 to $500 depending on condition. These are more appealing to Book/Library Room collectors at auction!
