I have a complete set of the New International encyclopedia 1905 that belonged to my grandfather. They are in the original bookcase. I would like an estimated value.

This has value because of its age and the bookcase. I would look on ebay for a couple of months to determine what it is actually selling for.
so this is a good sign in that the first search I did stated that one single volume is worth $46 www.fishpond.com/
Here's an ebayer offering the full set for $450 www.ebay.com/
if I were you I would go to an antiquarian book seller as they will soemtimes buy, and provide a better idea as to price
Encyclopedia values are all over the place mostly low but it is supply and demand that dictate the market values. I don't see any sold auctions on eBay which may mean a high supply and low demand.
--To get a market value you could take them around to several book buyers like and see what they offer. Half Price Books typically offer what I see as 1/8th to 1/4th retail value and will not make an offer if no market value.
--If you are asking for insurance purposes, talk to your agent who can get you to an appraiser.
--You could always set up your own ebay auction with the average of what people ask and have it be a best offer situation. This way someone who wants them can make an offer which you can accept or refuse or you could do a little fishing and set up a 7 day auction starting at 99 cents with a high reserve. If you get bids you can get an idea of market value and you don't lose if all that is bid is the 99 cents. This auction format has a small cost but will be less than paying for an appraiser.
The book cases may have the value if they are dovetail wood, glass front style. If you know the manufacturer, look at sold auctions on eBay to get the value.
One last suggestion if you find the books have no value as a whole, you may find some of the illustrations....carefully cut out and nicely framed and matted... will garner a nice return on investment!
