I have vintage bedroom furniture, I could not locate a makers mark, however I found one stamped on the underside of the dresser mirror, which shows Bassett MMA May 18,1934. I cannot find any information or photos of the set online.
Does anyone happen to have a ballpark on the value of the set? There is a dresser, vanity with mirror and bench, and full sized head and footboard.

This is an amazing set! Wow! It may be from 1934, but my feeling is it is more of a 1920s piece--from near the start of the Art Deco movement.
There is not a lot of history about the Basset Art Deco furniture online. Not sure why.
If it was mine, depending on where you live, I would get it into an auction setting and see what it fetches in that market. Not eBay, a real honest in person or in person and over the phone (since it is a COVID world) auction.
I tried desperately to sell an art deco bedroom set for a client back when I did estate sales in the early 2000s and I could not give it away in Pittsburgh because it is such a common style here and no one wanted it.
If I had been in New York city or another big location (maybe San Francisco) where people appreciate deco, I could have done nicely on the set for my client.
Furniture sales and values are still very much regional like that. The other thing with deco is the waterfall (rounded edge) patterns have held their value more than the squared versions--at least that is the trend I see when I research deco. You may be in a place where someone likes any deco! The handles alone (to me) are the absolute best part of this set! OMG....they are awesome!
Getting it into an auction setting may help you sell it for more than you could get on your own.
Post back what you decide!
As a PS, I think the drawers with the decoration that is on the bottom, is supposed to be on the top -- if the drawers switch like that, I would put it back with the decoration on the top--I am going by memory--which is flawed as I get older, but I remember with deco--the decorations are usually at higher eye level.
Thanks for sharing!
Thank you! The drawers are different heights, so this is the only configuration that works. Thank you for the advice!
Wow! Beautiful set.
Full headboard may not add value since a full bed size it is rarely used anymore but still..
It appears this set may be located in a 'store' and you are thinking of buying and just wish to confirm the price they are asking?
It is very difficult to place a value on a true antique as the condition can have tremendous effect on the value. It does appear there is some damage. Also, as Pghgirl stated, the area where item is located could mean the difference in hundreds of dollars (large set that would cost a small fortune to ship).
I also tend to believe this set may be older than 1934 although I had a set that was Art Deco made in 1939 so this date may be correct.
The biggest problem that I find with this set is the type of Basset mark as I have not been able to locate a similar mark but perhaps Pghgirl knows more about this mark. Of course, this could have been a type used during this period at one of their factories.
Here is a Bassett's definition of Art Deco:
'Art Deco (1910-1939): Unlike the Arts and Craft style, Art Deco furniture celebrated design excess. Originating in France shortly before WWI, Art Deco furniture is characterized by bold, vibrant colors, geometric shapes, shiny metal surfaces, exotic wood or ivory inlays, and geometric shapes with sweeping, angular lines."
If possible, you might show pictures to an antique dealer and see if they can help you evaluate this set.
You can also ask for a free online appraisal so if the furniture i yours and you wish to sell, you will have a better idea of its true value. Any site will need to know where you are located.

I'm not sure about the drawers in the dresser as they do not appear to be the same size when looking at the pictures.
No, this is a Set I own. My parents just dropped it off, so it was in my garage when I took pictures.
Maybe the Bassett stamp is only for the mirror? There are no other markings that I can locate.
Thank you for the response!
This is a really, really unique set and sure looks 'Art Deco" which, as Pghgirl states, may be from the 20's.
Marking only on mirror?
The mirror seems to have the same design as the headboard so I would guess it does belong with the set.
Have you checked every drawer? Probably so but just in case?
I have never seen a Bassett mark like this one but that does not mean it is not a legitimate Bassett piece.
I believe you should post your pictures and information to sites given and see what the tell you as I still believe it could be valuable but then again, as previously stated, your area will determine the 'true' value as all furniture values are regional.
For the most money, this set probably should be auctioned at a large action where pictures and information of items to be auctioned are sent to a large group of people.
I hope you will take advantage of the free sites and then make your decision.
