Most people will only pay around $125-175 for a cedar chest these days. There are many people who list these chests for $250-500 and when they are sold the selling price is much lower than the asking price. I have found several chests that sold in the past year or so and the average price a person makes when selling one of these chests is $135. The price a person sells an item to determine the value of your chest. The real value of this item would be $135.

Cedar chests are still selling and Lane is the most popular brand but shipping is very expensive (freight) and most experienced sellers list their large items as 'pick up only'.

That means that however popular cedar chests happen to be in your area will determine the bulk of the final value.

There are presently over 100 Lane cedar chests listed on eBay alone so check out these listings so you can see what experienced and inexperienced sellers are asking for their chest.
Asking prices are not 'value' prices as only an exact same sold item can tell you what a person is willing to pay for that item. Since you will never find an exact sold chest just like yours you can only look at sold listings and try to determine what to ask for yours.
Here is a link to eBay's listed Lane cedar chest. If you look carefully, you usually find that high prices are usually listed by fairly new sellers (many with less than 5 feedbacks) and they are pricing their chests by what they think it is worth. Most will not sell.

You can place a watch on any item if you wish to see if it sells.

eBay has a link to sold listings (from the past several months) so you can check out what people are buying and what they are willing to pay but since none will be like yours or be in your area, no one can say that any sale represents 'current value'. You can get some ideas so maybe you can make an intelligent decision about pricing your chest.
Very dark chests - similar to yours - seem to be less popular.
Age does not always add to value as buyers go more my style than age. It appears the 'waterfall' style is the most popular style.
When looking at any sold item, be sure to check out shipping area. Their are several sold items where the sellers made a big mistake and offered 'free shipping' and even has Priority mail as the way to ship. Of course, an item like this would have to go freight and will likely cost over $100 to ship anywhere.

here is one example of this mistake. Sold chest for $255 with free shipping so by the time the seller pays for shipping and pays eBay & PayPal fees there will not be a lot of profit left.

I would suggest you list your chest on sites like Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, offerup, letgo and start your price high - maybe $450 with best offer considered and local pick up only. List it on several sites and wait a few weeks but if no offers then you can always lower the price. Hopefully, your area has people who like cedar chests. You will need several good pictures as your chest is very dark wood and this type does not always show up well.

Just for information - check out Google and see how many different Lane chests show up and probably not any two of the same style.
