I have a large collection of Boyd's Bears porcelain dolls, most in boxes. I just saw a posting that Enesco, who purchased Boyd's is now putting the collection into "hibernation" at the end of 2014. Based on this information, should I just hold on to collection?

This is a difficult question to answer as most collectibles are still "mass" produced and just never increase very much in value.
Of course, these bears could be an exception as they have pretty much held their value over the years.
If I have something like this, I usually keep checking every so often on how the value is going (just like the stock market) and if I see a price I could live with, then I put it up for sale. It may keep going up - it may "crash" also. Those are the chances you take when saving an item.
Remember Barbie dolls? and Beanie babies? Think about how much money some people lost with Beanie babies!! Barbie dolls are not worth any where near what people paid in the 80s & 90s (exceptions of course) and most beanie babies go for 1.00 each (or less) at the flea markets. Yes, there are exceptions but the ones that sold (resale) for $10,000 ??? I hope they could afford to lose that money!
I know there are excretions to everything so the decision is difficult and you could regret it if you sell now but some items never increase in value and most lose value. This is true with art, antiques, money, etc.
Then there are others that did well and are still valuable so you will have to decide this for yourself.. Keep or sell? Do you like them well enough to keep for yourself if the value never increases?
