I have the 1911 Catholic Encyclopedia by Robert Appleton. How many books are in this set and are they worth anything?

Your books may have value as they were published before 1923. Check for possible EBay, Craig's List, etc. prices, auction houses in your area and also this site
There are 15 volumes in the set. They are worth $400.00-525.00, depending on the condition.
The value of any book will be the condition and what the market value is at the date of offering. One of the problems with this set is the copy-write has run out and so it is available for free on-line either as a lookup or PDF available for printing and this set along with newer sets are available for reference at local libraries. It is also pre-Vatican. Here is a research site that will tell you about the number of volumes and when they were published.
Here is a site that gave information on this set 3 years ago ($400-525) but the actual value may have changed and the condition of books will make a big difference. You can ask for an up-to-date appraisal on this same site (it is free).
