Hi there. I have had these vintage Conant Ball chairs for about five years. They had been professionally reupholstered when I got them. As I recall, there was a corner table which fit in between them. I find the corner tables easily with an online search, but the chairs not so much.
I use them as a loveseat. They are in great shape. I don't know if they are made by Russel Wright or Leslie Diamond. There doesn't seem to be a signature indicating that. But they do look potentially built during the RW period? Anyway, with the family growing, i need a longer couch and alas we must part. I would appreciate any advice on what i should ask for them. Thanks!

Happy to help. I found the link: www.ebth.com/
I think they were "name spamming" because I don't see his signature and I think Wright was gone from Conant in the 1940s.
Here is a wiki also and this matches what I have seen in other sources that he wasn't designing for Conant in 1948 (if that is your exact set in that newspaper ad):

Scroll down to the furniture section.
Post back what you fetch for them! I like to keep track of trends in sales (I am a data geek!)
Thanks!
I absolutely will follow up. I put them on eBay and craigslist and FB for $1000
I'm glad that PGHgirl found that link because I had not found it.
Your chairs really look like the same ones shown in the poster and since the date is 1948 they could not be from the Russell Wright collection because he only designed for them from 1935-1939 but they did continue to use a lot of similar styles so it's just natural that everyone wants to think their piece is from the Russell Wright collection. I recently read that most of real RW collections were 'chunkier' than the later styles and many of the later styles are designed by Leslie Diamond.
High price quality name brand furniture does not always sell quickly so if you go with a high price, it may take months for it to sell so you'll have to decide if you want to take less money and sell more quickly or do you want to list it at a higher price and maybe have to wait a while(?). Selling is unpredictable.
You'll also have to think about offering freight shipping (buyer paying) or offer as 'local pick only' - or either.
Pick up only means only potential buyers in your area (maybe a 50-60 mile radius) will be looking to buy your chairs. I believe you should offer both types.
You really should have an appraisal as it makes a big difference if you can state in your listing that you have a current appraisal at $????.
There are sites that offer free appraisals but there are also several sites that offer appraisals from well known auction houses that only cost $20-$30 and all/any of these are well worth the money for items like this. They will be able to verify the date as well (but I think the poster PGHgirl listed is probably correct).
Check out these sites and see what you think:

This is a sought after brand. On eBay, one upholstered chair is asking $199.
oh you found a similar chair on eBay? i have tried to no avail. might you have the link?
The best person to answer your question is another member, PGHgirl, as she is the one with all the knowledge about vintage furniture, especially Conant Ball so keep watch for her answer.
Thank you! I don't know the cushion dimensions off hand, but yes they are square. The chairs - when put together - are a width of 65 inches. (32 inches each.)
They are 32"D
30H
14from floor to seat
Thanks for the info and I'm still searching but the reason I asked about the dimensions is that when searching for another item (some time back) I saw a set that was very similar to yours but it was a 3 piece set with a 'straight' chair in the middle.
Ok thanks! As I said - this set came with a corner table which I didnt purchase. But thats how the set is supposed to look.

This one is old, but it looks like your chairs.
They were sold, if I remember right, as sectionals with as cybergrannie said, an armless chair in the middle then there were some sold as the ends of a round sofa. The corner table may have been used with your pieces, but sold separately, I think.
I am trying to find a catalog example to confirm this.
The value in the one above is old. But in this brand may be a bit higher today if you are in a high supply, high demand area. Will be back with more of I can lay my hands on it!

I hope you can open this. It shows the configurations. Says it is from 1948!
Wow! That is amazing to see. I think mine were part of the "thee piece sectional with the corner table. As I said, there was the corner table available to purchase with it - though I didn't get the corner table. 1948 seems about right considering just the look of teh wood - and teh design. Does that mean it was Russell Wright? I live in Brooklyn, NY. I wonder what i should ask for these?
btw. that first link you sent - i can only see old dolls. maybe a different link? i saw the catalogue link.
Sorry...that link went to another post. I didn't clear my clipboard. Yikes. Now I can't find the link to the sold set. They were identical to yours except the upholstery was the original.
I do not think they are Wright pieces as everything I know about him, his pieces were signed. I think a lot of sellers spam word his name to make posts more attractive when it is not true (just my opinion). Go with the facts--that it is marked Conant Ball and go from there.
I think they sold for the pair for $275 in 2013 or 2014.
Start high (maybe $1000 for the set) and take best offer. Furniture sales are regional. NY is a good place to sell. You could see if a local auction house could do better for you than trying to sell on your own as you would get more eyes on them.
Now is the time to sell MCM pieces as they have been "in" for a while and the trend is slowly starting to wane. Although every time I think it is fading completely, I see another surge of sales. It is still hotter on the east coast than most places!
Post back how your sale goes!
