Do you mean that you have a 30 volume 1976 set new in an unopened box and 16 additional paper updates or yearbooks?
It would help if you could post pictures of the box (information) and books but maybe someone can still help you.
Does the box state what type of leather? Padded?
Color?
1976 is one of the 15th edition sets that were made from 1974 to 2010. Of course, each year had some differences and the earlier years of the 15th Edition are not always the most popular.
You can do your own research on eBay as you have all of the crucial information to find if any set listed is the same as yours.
You can check out eBay's for sale listings and if you find a similar set, you can place a watch on that listing to see if it sells.
Books are not always fast sellers and some sets will be listed for months/years before they sell; if they sell.

If you decide to sell, I would suggest you start your price higher (maybe $600 to $750) and consider all offers; list on any sites you are familiar with and leave posted for a few weeks; if no offers then you may need to start lowering the price and wait again.
