I have the 3 volume set from 1897. 2 of the three have front covers that are loose. I am wondering if there is any interest in them. There is an inscription on the first dates December 25th, 1897 from Mother.

This may have some value, as it is over 100 years old. I would take it to an antique book dealer and see what s/he says.
Someone is selling the volumes separately on Amazon for $33 each. You could watch them and see if they stay there and if they don't that might mean they sold (or the seller got tired of listing and took them off.)
Asking prices are not value---value is what someone will pay for the item, which is why I recommend trying to find a version of it that you can see a sold price--like on eBay or one of the other online sites. At the moment there are none, but tomorrow that could change since the market changes minute by minute!
I have learned from some artist groups I belong to that pieces this old, if they have neat drawings, are sought after for the pages by many junk journal and collage artists. The sad thing is they cannot afford to pay much for them, so if you sold in that setting, it would be for a few dollars a piece. Anything older than 1923 is now in public domain (for the most part) which means artists can use the items freely (for the most part) and not have to pay for the rights (for the most part).
If you are really ambitious, you could cull out pages with the amazing art and list the ripped pages by lots on Etsy. This is a growth area...pages for junk journals/collages.
I have a link so you can see what I mean:

Post back with an update on your sales/next steps!! Thanks for sharing!
Based on what you are saying, I could scan all of the graphics and resell those many times over. Interesting thought.
Yes! Exactly. If you are going to do this as a business I would just double check with a copyright lawyer to make sure you are good to go. I am told that this public domain/fair use rule does apply to ALMOST every situation, but they (the online gurus) always stipulate that you need to check with your own lawyer to verify you are OK.
Post back what you learn!! Thanks for posting back!
