Got this Lane chest in a house I bought. What is the date of this and what is a good value?

To determine the date you need to check the serial number on the chest. The day is backward or you read it backward and this gives you the date it was made. As for fair value, there are some people who ask around $300 for their chests but they are not selling. The most chest that actually sell is normally around 150-175 dollars.
This is a very nice trunk, average sale is $150 to $350 .
Here are what others are asking for there trunks -www.chairish.com/
Your chest is from 1970. Lovely piece! I was not able to find an example of it sold, which surprised me.
Values are all over the place depending on where you are so even if I found a sold one it may not sell for that in your area.
The highest I have ever seen one sell for is $500, the lowest, is them being given away (which I see a lot where I am because there is a huge supply and very little demand).
If you are selling yours, start high and take what someone offers. That will be the value in your town!!
Thanks for sharing!
PS...if you are going to sell it, you will need to remove the lock as it was recalled for the locks trapping children inside. I can't seem to lay my hands on the link with where to call. If I find it, I will post back.
