This coin has supposedly been in our family for a long time. I had gotten when my father past away last year. I know nothing about it. And was wondering if someone could help me with this?

There are several things that determine the value of a silver dollar:
Condition/type: proof - mint/uncirculated are the most valuable
It appears that your coin does not fall in this category.
Where minted/strike: cannot read yours

These coins are very plentiful in all grades so regular coins are not very valuable.
There are over 5,000 1922 silver dollars presently listed for sale on eBay alone.
Here is a link to the sold listings on eBay and from just seeing your picture (which is the poorest way to evaluate a coin) the average selling price seems to be under $10.

A really nice piece of history, this coin called a Peace Silver Dollar . The Peace Silver dollar is a US coin minted from 1921 to 1928, in 1934 & 1935, and as a commemorative in 2021. The minimum value $19.24 up to $36 in perfect condition. - This coin was constructed with 90% silver and 10% copper.-www.coinstudy.com/
If you are not familiar with selling silver or coins, I would NOT recommend selling it on eBay as collectors are VERY, VERY picky and you could end up having an unhappy person if it was not what they expected.
Plus there is also rampant fraud when trying to sell coins/silver online and I just learned the hard way to avoid it at all costs. You may make a little less, but I ONLY do in person sales and I only deal with a trusted retail vendor.
Do you have a place like Treasure Hunt in your town? This is the place I use to sell coins, gold, and silver for my clients or when we have family estates that need settled. They will tell you the RETAIL value of the coin AND the scrap value.
I have found in probably 3/4 of the coins I have sold, scrap is a much higher value than as a coin.
There are many reasons for that, including a glut of coins on the market and condition if coins have been circulated.
If you don't like the offer of the first place, get three opinions. Pawn Shops may be good if you have reputable ones who specialize in coins/silver, or some jewelry store. I have just done this enough that I have one place I trust and they get all of my business.

Average condition is worth $30, according to this website www.usacoinbook.com/
This 1922 Silver Peace Dollar is in average condition, is 90% silver and 10% copper. It's value in this condition is about $30.00 as a silver coin. It's value if melted down for the silver is about $20.00. It's a nice piece of America's coin history.
$27-$42 normal price unless it has an error on it.. Then $75,000 if it has an error. Take to local coin dealer he will be able to tell you. If it is extremely valuable you then want to send it to PCGS mint for certification.
