Value of Strawberry Shortcake Doll?

Why does my vintage 1979 Shortcake doll have lighter limbs than head and torso? How does this limb discoloration affect value?

The Strawberry Shortcake collection , did very well for vintage sales about 10 years ago. On April 16th 2012 a vintage Strawberry shortcake banana twirl doll from the 80's sold for $479 on eBay. Strawberry shortcake pet series sold for $379. As of right now the best place recommended to sell any Shortcake series is on eBay. The sells are much lower than 10 years ago. Because of so many getting rid of what they do not need during these times, the dolls are not bringing in more that $50 for certain collections in excellent condition. We really need a picture of your doll in order to help you.
The value of these dolls is related to which doll, new or used, condition, accessories.

There are thousands of these dolls listed for sale online and most are listed for under $35 and sold prices (eBay) are very low except for a very few exceptions. Asking prices do not show the value of items it only shows what the seller would like to receive for their items.
Here are dolls presently listed for sale on eBay:

Only an identical sold item will show current value as it shows what someone was willing to pay for that item. You can check the sold dolls listed on eBay to see if you see a doll like yours. The sold price would show the value of a similar doll (that may be in better condition than yours). Any kind of doll may take months/years to sell.

There are a lot of sites that have information on the Strawberry Shortcake dolls but most likely they will never have the value they had in the past.

You can check out some of these links if you are interested in what other collectors are saying about these dolls.

Maybe if we find out more about your doll someone can offer more help.

Thanks for the picture.
She is so cute!
This is one doll that I am not familiar with but I can see why they are so popular.
Do you have her turtle, clothes and box?
There are so many listed for sale that makes it a buyer's market so the value will be low.

I agree. Thanks for the input. I do have her clothes to include outfit, booties, and hat as well as Tea Time Turtle. All of which are in great shape! No box, though.

Take several good pictures and start your price high even if you decide to lower it later.
This one looks good.

Thanks for the photos! The discoloration looks normal. Be sure to take good photos and mention the discoloration in several places in the listing. The hair also looks slightly altered, but that could be just the angle of the photos. If it has been mussed or played with, that needs to be noted too. Doll collectors are super fussy about things, so the clearer the info, the better they can decide.

You can always start high and hope for a windfall. If she where mine, I would have fun and do her sale as a 7 day auction. Start at the least you want for her and see where it goes. If she doesn't sell, then you can do the buy it now. Have fun with the sale of this cutie!

Dolls in mint condition sell for a lot. The discoloration will affect the value, but Im sure someone will buy it.

Can you please show a photo of your doll?

Dolls made of various plastics and rubbers deteriorated in different ways. It would help to see your doll so maybe I can give you some additional information, including helping with potential value.

Please include her height and show the discoloration so I can try to gauge "condition". Without more info, anything I suggest may steer you in the wrong direction or give you misinformation.

Thanks!
