Your Mersman 8-Legged table was popular starting in the 30s and going into the 50s.
My mother had a similar table from the 30s.
Comments from appraisers show this as a not so popular design since the 50s and some even say many people look at these as being 'gothic' in design.

Also, the design does not lend itself to being 'part of' most groups of furniture. Since a lot of people now tend to buy from places like Ikea and Wayfair, this design just does not fit in. However, there is still a market for 'unusual' pieces and this would fit that desire.

I would consider listing it with a higher starting price - $200 - $300 just to test the market in your area.
Usually, pieces like this are listed as 'local pick up only' as shipping would be very expensive.
You cannot always compare pieces like this to 'similar' pieces because there are usually too many differences.

You can list on more than one site as most sites (except eBay and Etsy) do not charge you to list items but do charge a percentage if your item sells on their site.

Facebook marketplace, Craigslist, NextDoor, are good places to list for local pick up items.
Consider offers and lower the price if you do not receive any offers.

Thank you for your reply. I dont plan on selling the table as it is more of a sentimental piece inherited from my husbands grandmother. I just wanted to get more information on the age and possible value as it seems to be a bit unusual in its design and style.

I'm so glad to hear that you are keeping this table.
My Mother's table 'disappeared' after she died and I would dearly love to have it back!

If I remember correctly, my Mother said she acquired several pieces of this style toward the end of the art deco period, so that would have been in the 30s-early 40s.
It is sad that families no longer treasure the pieces their parents/grandparents put so much care and love in, mainly thinking the family would do the same and keep them for their children.
Be sure you find the right cleaner for this lovely table, as some cleaners can cause damage over the years.
Beat of luck to you and your family.
