I inherited this chair from the grandparents of a friend many years ago. I've decided that this isn't really my style and should go to someone who appreciates it. I haven't been able to find a similar looking piece online, so was hoping the great community here might have thoughts. The wood is in good shape overall, but the leather under the cushion does need replacing. Any thoughts on the chair and approximate value (and I understand all the caveats of markets makes that difficult) would be incredibly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I found one similar to yours, Conant Ball modern design chair. - From one of my favorite consignment/sales asking $375 - www.chairish.com/
Great piece!! If it was signed by Russell Wright or Leslie Diamond it would be worth around $900 retail, if pristine. Since it is a "standard" Conant Ball the value is much less.
Chairish is what is considered high end (retail) asking prices and since they don't publish sold prices the asking prices are not of much value to those of us who resell since sold prices are the only true mark of value. They mark things up because they have super high overhead. They also offer discounts that no one can see until they go to buy--so it may end up selling for 1/4 or 1/8 of the "asking price".
All that said, I would start high $500 and take best offer--based on the condition and the market where you are located.
Terms to use when you offer it are the brand and MCM (Mid Century Modern). The trend for MCM is still hanging on so if you are going to sell, now is the time...for months I have thought MCM was done, but but I guess with COVID people are still having the need for nostalgic furniture to comfort them. Sell while the trend is still going!!
Be aware that the condition issues you describe will lower the value so negotiate with the offers if you do start high--maybe you can meet in the middle and everyone will be happy!
Thanks for sharing! Great piece!
Your chair is in desperate need of some repairs and TLC. In the current condition that the chair is in right now, you may be able to get around $100 for this chair. The one that was listed on Chairish was in mint condition and will always sell for a much higher price. The company takes in furniture on consignment and tries to sell this online.
Popular style chair. Most listings state this as a Russell Wright design for various reasons but Conant Ball/Russell Wright history usually states that Russell Wright designs will have his mark so who knows for sure?
I have found numerous chairs in this style but no actual sold prices. You can look at these listings to obtain information about your chair but always remember - sellers are not always correct in what they post about an item and that is why you should always check out more than one description.
Here is a listing on Worthpoint site that has information about this chair. Worthpoint is a site for appraisers and has costly member fees so you cannot obtain sold prices but sometimes you can find information you can use.

This is a similar chair but has differences that true Conant Ball buyers will know about and could mean a difference of age or? The side bar on the chair has a different shape.
This site shows 2 chairs sold in 2019 - no final price shown but shows they sold in the thousands. Condition looks good but not noted.

Your chair may or may not have original upholstery and pictures do not show condition of wood finish so condition is still in question. Many chairs have been redone if only with the upholstery and webbing but I kinda lean toward not redoing as what upholstery you choose may not be in the same style as a would be buyer would choose.
I believe stating the true condition and good pictures will make an item more likely to sell faster but maybe for less money (but refinishing and new upholstery is expensive and you may be able to recoup these costs).
I would suggest listing on sites like Facebook Marketplace with a high starting price with best offers consider and pick up only or have buyer arrange own shipping.
$500 sounds like a good starting price and lower it if no one makes an offer.
You can also present your question to this site and see what information they provide. Be sure to state your location.
