What is the value of my porcelain doll? She is from the Dynasty Collection and her name is Kimiko. She was purchased in 1990 for $150.00. I have seen one on an auction site for $2,500.00.

The dolls from the Dynasty Collection are going for $50 and less on eBay. www.ebay.com/
Hi. I am so curious! Can you please share the link where you saw her for that much? Was that the sold price or the asking price?
I know that the ethnic dolls sometimes will fetch more in the market, but I have never seen any of the Oriental dolls fetch that much! If this is asking price, know that sellers can ask what they want. The true value is what it actually SOLD for.
I have researched dolls extensively and sold them for many years. I found one listing for your doll on Pinterest, but it was just a photo (she is lovely) and I didn't see any that have been sold (or even listed for sale recently--which could mean she is more rare and more valuable than most).
So, if the $2,500 is the SOLD price then I would suggest taking her to a reputable vintage dealer and having him/her sell her for you. You will have to pay a fee or get a percent of sale, but this will help you in the long run.
I say this because if you are a new seller, trying to sell her on eBay will leave you open to scammers and generally unpleasantness as doll collectors are usual not willing to give a new seller that kind of money for an item. They will want you to lower the price and may even try to get you to sell it outside of eBay (which is a scam where they get your Paypal account and then drain it dry) or they will try go scam you to scam by telling you it was broken in transit, and then returning you a broken (different doll of no value) and then they have your valuable dolly. This happens all too often to new sellers. Just NOT worth it when you have items of such high value.
I am so excited to learn more about what you have because, generally the Dynasty dolls were always considered on the lower end of the doll spectrum. They were lovely and very expensive when we sold them back in the 1990s. We sold thousands and now that has contributed to them being such low prices today as people are downsizing and trying to get closet space back.
I will look for more info when you get a chance!! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for the responses, greatly appreciated.
I know the other Kimiko doll "sold" for $2,500.00.
How do I find a reputable appraiser?
Here is a link for appraisers:
If cybergrannie has not already weighed in, I know she knows some good sites for getting appraisals. Looking forward to hearing back what you learn!
Blessings!
