We found this hammered tin tray (or metal). It looks really old and I have tried finding it online with no success. Does anyone know what this is? Who made it and when? How much it could be worth?
Thanks.

It looks like a serving tray. Take it to a jeweler for information on what it is made of and its worth.
Thanks Judy. We know it isnt silver and its definitely a serving tray. We were hoping someone could let us know where it was made, who made it and how old it is.
This is a really neat piece!
My gut feeling is this is some kind of tramp art from the late 1920s, early 1930s. Most tramp art was made of wood but I know there are some metal pieces. If it is not tramp art, I am still pegging it as US made (the deer) and early 20th century. That is just from the photo--I may hold it and think something different. It is often very challenging to gauge something from a photo...in theory it could have come from Wayfarer last week...because so many new things are MADE to look old :(
As to value, with pieces like this it is what the market will bear for an item. My best guidance would be if you can, try to sell it through a local venue like to an antique shop or have a vintage shop consign it for you. This way, they can feel, see, smell and gauge exactly what you have! That is the best option. Plus most pay cash on the spot.
If you are an experienced eBay seller, you could always start it as a 7 day, no reserve auction at $49.99 and see if it goes up. If not, then you can lower the price and try again.
If after 2 or 3 times trying auctions and it doesn't sell, put it on as a buy it now, best offer, and let the market dictate the value.
You would have to advertise it with facts (size, shape, describe the handles, the flowers etc). If a magnet does or does not stick to it, etc. You can say you think it might be tramp art...but be very clear you are not positive of the provenance.
Post 12 photos (all eBay allows) and tell people to zoom to the photos to make sure they are getting what they want.
Be sure to describe any flaws and get close ups of those.
Post back how it goes!! It is a very neat item!
Thanks! I think its a cool piece too! This helps a lot. I will research tramp art and we feel it is punched Tim because a magnet does stick to it. I was on the edge about getting it at the Bridge House thrift store and my gut said yes!
I agree about new things bro g made to look old but it looks ancient lol. I will keep yall updated.
Post back what you learn!! If it is tin it is old. If it is aluminum it is newer (my gut again).
Please keep me in the loop with what you learn! I love cool old stuff and am always trying to learn as much as I can about it all!!
Blessings!
