I just bought a Lane cedar chest at a garage sale for $50. The inside is in pristine condition, except for a couple of scratches in the felt. The outside is in really good shape except for the fact that the person I bought it from painted it a really yucky green color! My husband is almost done refinishing it. I am not planning on selling it, but just wondering what kind of value it might have. The serial number is 252190.

The chest is from 1952. To get the exact date read the serial number backwards.
$50 was a good price. Restored pieces go for $100 and more.
What a fun find!!
Value is very regionally driven so where I am $50 would be very expensive (as most people where I am have to give these away), but in other parts of the country, they sell for up to $100-150 for the mid century modern chests like yours, so $50 is a bargain!
The point is if you love it and got it looking beautiful again, the value is subjective.
Thanks for sharing! It looks like he did an amazing job de-greening it!
WOW!!!
$50 is a great price for this size trunk! The value of it decreased with paint added, without paint worth more!
